David Bowie exhibition// Martin-Gropius-Bau, Berlin

Today is the last chance to visit the David Bowie exhibition in Martin-Gropius-Bau. It is a retrospective of Bowie’s extraordinary career, especially exploring the sources of his inspiration and the broad range of collaborations with various artists from completely different fields. The exhibition consists of around 300 objects, most of them album artworks, handwritten lyrics & letters, costumes, photography and music videos.

My favorite section was the last room, entirely dedicated to Bowie’s time in Berlin. Together with Iggy Pop he lived in Hauptstraße 155 in Berlin Schöneberg  from 1976-1978. Probably inspired by the past as well as the vibrant subculture of the German capital in the 70's, at this time Bowie produced the so-called “Berlin Trilogy”, including the albums "Low", "Lodger" and "Heroes".

Make sure to get some headphones before entering! This will not only help to get the full musical experience (as the headphones automatically play the music belonging to the shown object) but also to get not too distracted of the masses of visitors around you.

❏ israeli food// na'ama's fattoush

na'ama's fattoush

this is one of my favorite recipes from the jerusalem cookbook by yotam ottolenghi. it's the perfect summer dish and so easy to make!

What you need:

   200 g Greek yogurt
   200 ml whole milk
   2 large stale Turkish flatbread
3 large tomatoes cut into 1.5cm dice

   100 g radishes, thinly sliced
   3 mini cucumbers, peeled and
chopped into 1.5cm dice
   2 green onions, thinly sliced

   15 g fresh mint
   25 g flat-leaf parsley, coarsely chopped
   2 cloves garlic, crushed

3 tbsp freshly squeezed lemon juice

60 ml olive oil, plus extra to drizzle

2 tbsp cider or white wine vinegar

1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
   plus more to taste
1 teaspoon fine grain sea salt
   plus more to taste
1 tbsp sumac or more to taste, to garnish

And then, actually it's just about mixing together all the ingredients:

tear the bread into bite-size pieces and place in a large mixing bowl. add 2/3 of the yogurt-milk mixture, followed by the rest of the ingredients, mix well, decide if you want to add more yogurt mixture, and leave for 10 minutes for all the flavors to combine. spoon the fattoush into serving bowls, drizzle with some olive oil, and garnish generously with sumac.

enjoy!
